Kenzo x H&M: High-end Fashion made Affortable

Back in May H&M announced that Carol Lim and Humberto Leon from Kenzo are the latest designers to bring their work to the masses via collaborations with H&M.

Good news – while Kenzo is a high-end fashionwear brand, with the latest collaboration there might be something for everyone. So starting from November, shoppers will be able to get a piece of the action for way less, and Kenzo x H&M collection will hit stores on Thursday, November 3.

The Kenzo x H&M lookbook stars a global cast – DJ Juliana Huxtable, photographer Youngjun Koo and activit writer Amy Sall. The newest collection, which is described as “colorful comfort fashion” will celebrate where Kenzo Takada began and where the fashion world has taken the brand to.

Spoiler: it’s been worth the wait. The collection, which was designed by Kenzo’s creative directors Humberto Leon and Carol Lim is as bold, colorful and bright as you’d expect, featuring animal prints, oversized style and, obviously, tiger logos, which has become Kenzo’s trademark.

WEEKDAY Presents: Sophie Bille Brahe – ENSEMBLE

Right after Sophie Bille Brahe’s graduation from London’s Royal College of Arts she started up her eponymous brand. Since then the progressive Dane has assembled a cult following her elegant designs, with high profile personalities from the film-, fashion- and art scene all on the list of clients.

Sophie offers pieces that reflect her thrill for storytelling and avant-garde design, always striving to crack modern luxury. Her collections evolve naturally from one to the next – all part of the same story being told.

For the new collection – ENSEMBLE – Sophie has taken a starting point in the clean lines typical for Scandinavian designs. The source of inspiration is also found in her home turf.

“I have looked at the clear Scandinavian sky and sea with waves and clouds in soft geometrical shapes. There is no end and no beginning, no up and no down. Further inspiration is gathered from eyes, with blue shades going from bright to dark”, she says.

With Weekday re-welcoming the Sophie Bille Brahe, some 10 styles from ENSEMBLE collection will be available – earrings, necklaces and rings in seductive shapes. All in polished sterling silver, all at affordable prices within a price range of 60-200€.

ENSEMBLE by Sophie Bille Brahe will be available at Weekday from week 18.

Technology Comes to Life in MONKI’s SS13 Collection

Monki designs

Monki ’s SS13 collection is inspired by the four ancient elements – air, water, earth and fire – and one brand new one: technology. The fifth element was inspired by the observation that people no longer think of nature and technology as opposites. Instead, technology is a natural part of our world just as the other four have always been.

“I am so inspired by the way people live so naturally with computers and screens and chips and cables,” explains Head of Design Tallulah Topac. “Technology gives us so many new opportunities to be creative and to express ourselves in new ways and new materials, and I wanted the collection to reflect the excitement of that.”

The collection consists of five trends, one for each element. Air is represented by a soft, cloudy colour palette – mint greens, petrol blue and creamy grey – and fabrics full of holes, such as lace, fine knits and broderie anglaise. The intensity of fire comes through in hot monochrome abstract and digital prints, while the water trend is all about shades of blue, and patterns inspired by reflections, dye baths and rain clouds. Earth, finally, takes its colours from the southern hemispheres and its patterns from world traditional crafts, creating a vibrant fusion that will culminate just as summer reaches its height.

Colorful Monki palette

The pieces from the technology element are scattered throughout the season. In this trend, there are new materials – clear plastics, sequins, sheers, and unexpected textures – and a palette of colours that ranges from intense pinks, corals, limes and yellows to beige, grey and white.

WEEKDAY Takes Sports Clothing To Couture Levels

MTWTFSS WEEKDAY COLLECTION S/S 2013 is based on three different themes coming together in a perfectly balanced look of confident elegance. Sport couture meets sharp patterns and classic minimalism in sweet harmony.

weekend collection outfit

The refined tailoring and the fine fabrics are still very much in focus in the making of MTWTFSS WEEKDAY COLLECTION – the most exclusive of the Weekday lines. The silhouette is soft, at ease and undoubtedly sophisticated. Most striking in the spring collection is a pattern from the design teams kilim rug, seen in allover printed garments with authentic bleaches in blue and crimson red, adding a beautiful worn feel to the collection, The dominating color chart for the season is neutrally black, blue and grey with highlights such as khaki green, clear blue and a bright neon yellow.

The different themes mixed and intertwined create a natural entirety. A key look would be patterned trousers along with a simple t- shirt and a blazer, or the suit pant with a bomber jacket.

MTWTFSS WEEKDAY COLLECTION is all about creating timeless fashion, in styles as well as in qualities. With great attention to production and fabrics – this is fashion that lasts.
