Aqua Eyes

Easy Ways To Improve Your Health Right Now


Forget the excuses. Focusing on yourself, your own health and your well-being (both physical and psychical) is the best thing you can do. Regardless of how you feel now, you can always find 30 minutes (or less) to improve and maintain your health and well-being. Read on and note a few things to live a healthy lifestyle with virtually no effort or investment.

1. Drink More Water

It’s a fact: drinking water is simply essential to our being. It’s important to stay hydrated during the day not only to replenish the water we lose throughout the day, but also to manage diabetes and to keep your teeth and skin healthy. If you can’t force yourself to drink plain water try drinking lemon water instead: it’s a slightly tastier version that will give you glowing skin and will improve digestion.

2. Rest

As we all rush around madly trying to squeeze out as much as possible out of our every day lives, good rest is undoubtedly needed, too.  Your body, just like your mind, needs to rest and regain its powers. If you are a person who has a very active lifestyle, try dedicating at least half a day one a week for something you WANT (don’t have) to do: sleeping, watching TV, cooking or simply doing something what gives you and your body the biggest amount of joy and rest. Let yourself “recharge” so you can share your joy and positivity with others. Rest well to regain your energy and use it as a source of inspiration for creativity.

3. Schedule Your Workouts

Working out increases endorphins which can improve your mood significantly. Try finding a number of sports to find out what you prefer most – try running, jogging, yoga, aerobics or dancing. If you need some motivation try persuading your friend to go jogging at least once a week – it’ll be a nice beginning plus you’ll have somebody who will kick your a$$ when needed. If you don’t like working out, try doing some small things every day (or every second day) to improve your well-being: choose stairs over elevator,choose walking instead of taking a bus and an active dancing night in a nightclub with friends over an indoor party.

4. Eat Green

One of the best things you can do for your health is to simply eat more greens! Try adding more greens to your food which you’re used to eating: add some spinach to your salad, try kale for your smoothie and opt arugula in your sandwich. Your tummy will thank you.

5. Walk, Walk, Walk

Did you know that walking around 30 minutes a day will slash your risk of chronic disease? The American Diabetes Association says that walking lowers your blood sugar levels and the overall risk for diabetes. Not only that: walking every day improves your mood, strengthens your bones and muscles and improves your balance and coordination. It’s a free way to keep yourself healthy and happy – so why not give it a try? Choosing to walk to uni or work (if conditions allow) is already a first amazing choice you can do to keep yourself healthy.

6. Practice Power Naps

Adequate sleep (which is around 7-8 hours for an adult) is a key part of a healthy lifestyle. Good sleep can also benefit your heart, weight, mind and more. Scientists say that during sleep you can also strengthen memories or “practice” skills, which is the reason why people advice to take a nap after a long study period. In other words – if you happen to spend a few hours learning something new and you decide to take a break, take a nap break!

7. Improve Your Dental Health

Two simple yet underrated hygiene practices that you can improve immediately: flossing your teeth and rinsing your mouth. Keeping your gums clean will no only help you avoid bad breath, but will improve your long-term teeth and mouth health. It is recommended to both floss and rinse your mouth once per day, best in the evening.

8. Volunteer

Connecting with other people and making yourself useful is one of the best ways to feel happy. It will not only make you happy, but will (first and foremost) help others and community. Studies show that volunteering is good for your body and mind: people who donate their time feel more socially connected and feel less depressed and lonely. Researchers also claim that people who volunteer regularly have lower blood pressure and even live longer! Crazy, right?

Billion Dollar Brows: Brow Boost

I will be sincere – I have never thought that a thing like that could exist. I have never thought that a suspiciously looking and relatively expensive gelly could actually help to grow those tiny hair on my brows which I have never really had. However, 2 weeks experiment paid off – I tried it together with some of my friends and – vuala – we are thinking of establishing of a “Cara Delevingne – alike brow club”. Literally.

BDB brow boost

It is a deep conditioning treatment for brows and eyelashes; which is also prostaglandin and paraben free. If you happen to be a browless person having only a couple of super tiny hair just like I used to be, BDB brow boost is actually a perfect solution: you will notice results in less than a month!

Brow boost comes with a convenient, a little bit lipgloss-alike brush applicator. You have to use it at night and leave it alone. No worries of a “wet effect” – it dries instantly.

Our experiment didn’t take long at all: Billion Dollar Brows Brow Boost was used for about 3 weeks each evening before going to bed. Applied once day. That’s how it looked BEFORE the experiment:

Overall opinion:

Not only me, but also some friends of mine tried BDB brow boost and the overal opinion was very positive: within less than a month we all noticed our thicker, fuller lashes and stimulated brow hair growth. Great product – to be honest, I keep recommending it to my friends who have really tiny eyebrows and all of them claim to have gotten fuller ones after they tried BDB… So what’s stopping you? ;)

Aviendo: Natural Vegan Cosmetics

I had an opportunity to try natural skincare line by Aviendo, the company based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Even though the company has opened not too long, I feel they’re quickly aiming for the leaders position in the natural skincare market since 1. they are local and affordable, 2. natural, 3. firming and refreshing.


Aviendo is a company and a concept which has a goal, as they claim, to “enrich and inspire” promoting health-giving lifestyles. Being passionate for pure and natural products, Aviendo offers a wide variety of skincare products including facial creams, serums, eye care products, body moisturizers and cleansers.

Night face cream

If I had to be honest, I did not hear about the company before I tried the products. After receiving the products, I started following the company and was positively amazed with their positive, inspirational message that they send to users worldwide, yet mainly in Denmark. I liked the clear product description on their page and inspiring posts on their Facebook page, which definitely made me smile. It seems that the company is not only focusing on clean and healthy skincare, but rather on a healthy lifestyle and daily inspiration. Besides, I liked the fact that Aviendo offers a relatively small range of products, which made me sure that they rather focus on skincare and try to improve the level of their offerings instead of offering a wide range of so-so products.

I had a chance to try Aviendo’s extra firming aloe vera day and night face creams. After using both facial creams for about 2 weeks I have noticed that my skin got a healthy glow. Since both products should rather be used together for the best result, I did apply a small amount of day cream in the morning, after having washed my face, and a small amount of a night cream before going to bed. The first impression was great: I did feel the firming effect, skin absorbed the cream very quickly (so I did not have to go sleep with the oily face…) and it had a natural, pleasant smell.

According to Aviendo, creams are supposed to improve the overall structure of the skin creating natural firmness and binding moisture. Since both creams contain aloe vera extract, one should expect the skin to get protected from damage. Even though I actually have 5-6 different facial creams on my shelve in the bathroom, I currently am still using Aviendo. Could be a nice coincidence since I started eating healthy, too, but I have noticed that my small pimples on my cheeks disappeared as well.

Copenhagen-Based Qua Organic Skincare Production

Qua Organic follows the philosophy “The beauty without the beast.” Company’s production is certified by Ecocert by the highest level certification ‘Organic’ and it does not consist synthetic ingredients and chemicals that sometimes give fast but in a long run harmful effects. 

Every package of Qua products have a sign of NO parabens, glycols, sulphates, silicones, synthetic fragrances, synthetic colours, DEA (Diethanolamine), TEA (Triethanolamine) or PEGS (polyethylene glycol). Production is not tested on animals. The commitment “Yes – to beautiful skin, No – to harmful ingredients” reflects on the company’s attitude towards the natural beauty and effort they are putting to promote organic and healthier way of treating ones skin.

I’ve tried three products by this company, beginning with double phase makeup remover (225 DKK for 150ml), then detox face mask (275,- for 100ml) and finally active moisturizing face cream (335,- for 50ml).



Firstly, double phase makeup remover cleaned my face in fast few touches without having to scrub my eyes till they get sore. The statement on the makeup remover packaging says “When my makeup comes off my smile stays on” and it did. The product contains aloe vera and macadamia oil and gently removes the makeup leftovers without irritating skin. It is necessary to shake the bottle before using the make up remover to activate double phase effect. You’d think it is just a formality what they write on juice bottles or all of the cosmetics but it is not. I’ve noticed that if not shaken the makeup remover gets little bit too oily for my skin. However, it is also better to rinse it once again with lukewarm water and it is also advised on the packaging, if you read thoroughly.


Second product that I’ve tested was the detox face mask that instantly intrigued me. The blood circulation was effected immediately and my skin got the healthy glow. The mask also includes macadamia, jojoba oils, aloe vera and shea butter. It’s consistency is light and it does not cause dry the skin after using. Overall, it was an interesting product to try and even though I’m a bigger fan of homemade face masks I enjoyed using this product.


And finally, the active moisturizing face cream enriched with vitamin E and natural oils. Honestly, I adore that cosmetics companies try not to use artificial additives and fragrances but sometimes you just need a drop of natural grapefruit oil to improve the product. The cream was everything what you would expect from a moisturizing cream, except… the smell. It did irritate me since it slightly reminded me of mushrooms, champignons to be precise. But with the sense of smell it is the same as with sense of taste, everybody has it differently. I’ve asked a few of my friends to try it and tell me whether it annoys them. Some did agree with me, some didn’t. Anyhow, the moisturizing effect was ok and the cream did comfort the skin. As the cream contains shea butter fruit oil, jojoba seed oil and glycerin, you can be sure that your face will be safe to bear the cold of winter if you put a drop on your cheeks before you leave the apartment.

In a nutshell, I’m not used to spend a lot of money on pre-made face masks but I am left satisfied with Qua detox face mask, so I might purchase it once more. Even though I wouldn’t buy face cream, it leaves the skin soft and smooth. I don’t know which was more effective or the actual products, or the idea that products consist high amount of natural ingredients from organic farming and are healthier. I guess both had some effect. Of course, it is not enough to use natural products on your skin and it is more important to pamper your body from inside eating healthy. And the winter holiday period spent back at my mommy’s with tons of food and traveling might have reduced the effectivity of skin care products and increased my general weight, however the Qua is worth trying.

Magics From The Perfumery World For The Fall

When autumn comes, one can see the reflections of changes in nature and in peoples faces. Graying weather and darkness around causes nostalgic thoughts about the vibrant and colorful summer, a blissful moment full of giddy smells and charm. Even though summer, without a doubt, is a greatest and the most vibrant season of the year, autumn also has a lot to offer regardless of a number of layers of your clothing.


First and foremost: change your perfume as summer changes. I know, you might say that you have one favorite smell you do not want to change into anything else, and that smell, most likely, is sweet and fresh, reminding you of hot summer days at the beach. Since fall has started, it could be a good idea to match your nostalgic feeling for the summer with the romantic, strong smell – well, after all, you are a busy and goal-reaching woman, aren’t you?

Fresh versus solid

If you have troubles concentrating and still catch yourself thinking about the carefree summer, it could be a good idea to get a perfume with the dominating smell of flowers and berries. Such perfume would make a perfect guilty summer pleasure that you left for yourself and, even after summer is gone, you know where to find pieces of it right when you need a fresh summer breeze. If your budget is tight, you could take a look at what Elizabeth Arden has to offer. If you feel you can spend a little more than 200DKK, try smelling “In love again” by Yves Saint Laurent or “Hot Couture” by Givenchy, which will definitely make you think of fresh berries in the summer time.

If you like fresh and simple smells (that probably also remind of summer), then you, most likely, like to use simple, single-base perfume. I doesn’t surprise me that one of the favorite brands for Danish women is American brand “Clean”, representing line of perfumes resembling such scents as fresh laundry, outdoor shower, rain or soft cotton. The company claims that they choose to fill each day with the favorite things and rituals or, as they call, “perfect pleasures in life”. Yet if you want to have a little more cheeky and feminine pleasure for autumn, I would rather advice to choose a solid, traditional scent. The only (simple) thing is to know how to choose and what to choose. And in all cases I, personally, would always go for a expressive, energetic scent.

If I had to reveal a secret, I don’t think there’s anything sexier than a busy, self-confident lady dressed up in classical suit with the white shirt, having a big bag, computer, rushing to her next meeting and smelling good, a little expensive and luxurious perfume. Such a stylish an idyllic autumn picture. And now imagine a couple of men, waiting in the meeting room, checking balance sheets they prepared and then SHE comes in the room: a woman who makes everyone look at her. The one who’s smell takes their breath away. Oh well, I might’ have over-imagined the whole situation, but one thing I know for sure: strong, classical perfume only boosts self-confidence, and that is something we all need, especially in autumn. One thing that I absolutely adore about the classical perfume is its complexity and richness. Such classical and well-known perfumes as Chanel, Jean Patou or Dior have a rich and complex effect. Besides, it stays really long on your skin (as well as clothes!), therefore you feel self-confident and attractive for a day as minimum.

If you are interested in classical perfume yet would like some kind of “spice” in it, reflecting your uniqueness, you could try oriental Lolita Lempicka “Lolita Lempicka” perfume as well as Tom Ford “Tobacco Vanille”, having an intense and a little flirty smokey vanilla smell.

Scent family for fall: oriental and woody

Clean and simple, but strong and energetic. It seems that’s all what’s needed in a fall perfume, but it might be a little harder to choose it than just talk about it. If you are interested in perfumes and have had at least a couple of different ones in your life, you probably know that perfumers split fragrances into a set of “olfactive families”, which are the different groups that fragrances fit in. As weather changes, perfect perfume for fall would be oriental/spicy or woody. You only have to choose one according to your taste, budget and character.

Oriental: such combinations create deep, strong smells. Kind of mysterious, isn’t it? It could also give hints of a clove smell. If you enjoy oriental/spicy fragrances, you should try Dior “Addict” versions.

Woody: The other choice would be woody perfume, which give hints of a sandalwood, cedar, patchouli and pine. Such smells are mossy, down-to-earth and stable, a little less energetic and deep than oriental/spicy yet still very feminine. One of the most known examples of such category are Black by Bvlgari.


Remember that self-confidence and sexiness does not lie within clothing. It lies within your thoughts, your mood and your emotions, therefore try to enhance them in order to make best out of it. Melancholy of the fall cannot fight seductive and self-confident emotions as the latter ones will always win, regardless of season and/or situation. Even if you don’t fall in love with autumn, make autumn fell in love with you.
